Moving truck companies. huh! I can’t tell you how many times people ask me, “what moving truck company should I use?” Nine times out of ten they are looking for a cheap moving truck that’ll get them from point A to point B. None of that fancy stuff that some of the ‘big named’ moving truck companies provide.
So here’s the deal…
Because I try to provide the latest and greated up-to-date information about cheap moving trucks, I sadly have to take a stand. And where am I standing? In the middle, of course. Now don’t get me wront, I do have my favorites. And I’m sure I could feel comfortable telling you who I think the best moving truck company is. But, being that my job, if you want to call it that is to report the news and latest tips on renting a moving truck, I’m stuck.
I could ramble on and on and tell you how much I love Budget truck rentals. Or Penske trucks are the best. Or I could say that a u-haul is the best moving truck in the world and you want to know something?
It’s not going to matter.
Why?
Because 99% of the time people will go with the cheapest moving truck they can find. And who could blame them? I mean with the gas prices where they are now, gas for a cross-country move would create quite a hole in the average person’s pocket. So many are going with the cheap moving trucks. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Budget Moving Trucks offers a great line of moving trucks that’ll allow you to have a nice and smooth move. They offer quite a few different models that should be able to tackle nearly any moving you have whether it’s a move across town or a cross-country move.
Budget Moving Trucks offer:
1. Budget Moving Cargo Van
This moving truck is good for 1-2 room. However, this truck does not have a ramp, so be prepared to load up on some good pain killers before you start moving anything.
2. 10-foot Budget Moving Truck
This truck provides a little extra room, but you will not find a ramp on this truck either. However, it does provide you with 10 feet of clearance compared to 9 with the Budget moving cargo van.
3. 16-foot Budget Moving Truck Now we’re getting into some serious moving truck action here. The 16-foot moving truck can pack in 3-4 rooms, provides you with a ramp, and a whopping 11 feet 6 inches of clearence.
4. 24-foot Budget Moving Truck
This moving truck is nothing short of a gas-guzzling monster. While all of the other moving trucks and moving cargo van have 35-gallon gas tanks, this Budget Moving Truck has a 55-gallon stomach. Oh yeah. I can hear the gas station sucking the cash out of our wallets with this one.
55-gallons? Really? Whew! Just wait to see the cost to fill these babies up when gas hits $4.00 a gallon!
And in case you’re wondering, this truck provides you with 11 feet 6 inches of clearence, so you should have no problem slipping your mega tall flat screen TV inside this moving truck.
In a future post, I’ll talk about the Budget Rental Truck Insurance. Is it worth it? Should you get it? Will your auto policy cover you if you are involved in an accient? We’ll be diving into that topic soon.
Now I would never suggest doing this to a U-haul moving truck, but just in case you wondered if it was possible to do this… well… watch the video below. (click the play button)
With the cost of gas going up and up, the costs associated with renting a moving truck goes up as well. If you are moving cross-country and you’re looking for a cheap cross-country moving truck, yes, you can find deals out there, but be sure to remember your gas costs will be MUCH higher than you expected!
How can you save money on your moving truck?
Many moving companies offer moving truck coupons. I’ve mentioned in previous posts that you can sometimes find them at your local post office in their free moving kit, which also includes coupons for various items like storage, boxes, etc. from local businesses.
You may also be able to find some information online by searching for “budget moving truck coupons”, or “uhaul coupons”, or “Penskee coupons”, etc. Bottom line - moving always costs more than you had exptected. And with the costs of gas, you can be sure to spend more money on your move than you may have thought.
When it comes to moving truck rentals, it really does pay (or shall I say SAVE) to shop around!
Searching for cheap moving rental trucks? Well look no further!
Look, I know it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted on this site (well, besides my last post before this one), but it’s been since August.
Why do I even bother posting about cheap moving truck rentals?
Because moving is NO FUN!
And why not offer a little service and information that I wish I had when I’ve moved before. Call it giving back, I guess.
Fact is, there are a ton of moving truck companies to choose from. Whether you live in Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, or some little tiny town way up in Maine, odds are someday you’ll need a cheap moving truck rental.
And hence, this website.
You’ll be searching for something… like a Penske moving truck, or even a Ryder moving truck. You’ll then find this website and waaaala! Instantly you find the best moving truck information out there!
We recently moved again within Houston, Texas and decided to use a cheap moving truck to move. Since the move was somewhat local (within 15 miles), we decided to get the moving truck and hire some people to do all of the work.
They took the cardboard boxes, loaded up the moving truck, and off we went!
As you can imagine, there are a TON of choices for cheap moving trucks in Houston, Texas. So which truck did we go with this time? Was it Budget Moving Trucks? Nope! How about Penske Moving Trucks? Nope! Ryder? No. U-Haul moving truck? Try again! It was Hertz this time actually.
And as I’ve mentioned before, stop by your local post office and pick up a moving kit because you’ll find some great moving truck company coupons and also coupons for cardboard boxes and moving supplies.
Want to find a moving truck rental company in California? Well, you have a good thousand or more to choose from!
California has tons and tons of moving truck rental companies. I’d love to provide a list of all of the moving truck rental places in California for you here, but I’d also like to get out every once in awhile.
But take it from someone who has moved all around the country (I admit, I have not lived in California). You get what you pay for when it comes to moving trucks - that’s for sure!
The best deals on moving trucks can be found online, in the newspaper, the yellow pages, and on the internet. When searching for the best deal on a moving truck, be sure to grab a pen, a phone, and start dialing moving truck companies to find out their prices.
You can find moving truck coupons in many newspapers and you can find some great deals on moving trucks on the internet. Make sure you know the size of truck that you need, if you need a trailor, and don’t forget about supplies.
I know when I was searching for the best deals on mmoving trucks, I also made sure that they sold boxes and tape. Just about every single time I moved, I didn’t buy enough moving boxes. So load up on more than you need because most moving truck companies will buy back any unused boxes.
And don’t forget: Just because you find a good deal on a moving truck, it doesn’t mean that you are getting a nice truck that has a radio, A/C, heat, etc. Sometimes it’s worth paying a little more knowing that you won’t break down in the middle of nowhere.
Trying to find a cheap self moving truck rental? Moving truck rental companies offer many different types of moving trucks and moving vans.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, it’s a good idea to stop by your local post office to pick up a moving and change of address package. I’ve had luck finding coupons for self moving truck rental companies.
A few things to keep in mind when renting a self moving truck:
1. Do your homework: Make sure that the moving truck company that you are renting from has safe trucks
2. Research: You can find cheap moving truck companies and expensive ones. Give them a call and find out the price of a self moving truck rental.
3. Tell them what you need: If you need to rent a trailor to haul your car or truck behind your moving truck, make sure that you ask if they have any trailors available. I used a Penske moving truck in the past and rented a trailor from the same location.
4. Give yourself more time: Moving takes more time than you usually plan on. So add a day or two as a buffer to make sure you are not running around or speeding down the highway.
Moving trucks come in all shapes and sizes and you’ll want to make sure that you are careful when selecting a moving truck company.
There are many deals out there and as I mentioned before, you can find some great deals and coupons for moving truck companies by going to your post office and picking up a change of address kit.
You’ll also find coupons for boxes and other moving supplies that can save you a lot of money upfront.
Also make sure the truck you get is in good shape, has working a/c, heat, comfortable seats, and a radio that works. I’ve driven trucks that were brand new all the way to one that had seats so bad that the springs were coming out and would stab me in the butt with every bump! Now that is ugly!
You know… I’ve moved so many times it’s crazy. I’ve gone through most of the moving truck companies and I’ve hired local movers to move everything for me. The best decision I made was to hire a moving company for me when I moved cross-country. That saved me a lot of stress and money in the long-term.
We were able to drive the 2000+ miles and take in some sights without having to worry about driving a moving truck around tight corners. We did a lot of things that just wouldn’t be possible if you’re driving a moving truck like: visited friends, drove around New Orelans to see the damage from the hurricane, checked out countless small towns, and was able to find parking spaces.
Believe me, if you are driving around a small town in a moving truck, it’s not easy to find a parking space - especially if you are towing a car!
So consider hiring a moving company that will move all of your packed boxes into their truck and unload it for you. Not onl will it save you time and money… but it’ll also save your back!
